Dear MEL Topic Readers,
Global cancer deaths among men projected to increase by 93% by 2050,
study finds
As the population of developing countries in Africa and Asia increases,
the world’s population is projected to increase by 20% from 2022 to 2050 to 9.7
billion. Also, the aging population is rapidly rising in developed countries,
such as Japan, China, and even the USA. According to a study that analyzed cancer
cases and deaths in 185 countries, the numbers among men are predicted to nearly
double in 2050 from 2022. The numbers in countries where income and life expectancy
are relatively low like Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean are projected to
increase over two-fold. Also, men are more likely to suffer from cancer as they
tend to smoke and drink more than women.
What about the environment? Will the accelerating global warming affect
our health more in the future?
Read the article and learn about the increasing threat of cancer.
