Dear MEL School’s Topic Readers,
More than 100 bodies recovered from India's Ganges
The river is so holly and sacred that the faithful Hindus keep blessing
the water no matter how polluted it is. But when there were over a hundred of
dead and rotten bodies floating in one place, it goes beyond their belief and becomes
a serious health hazard.
As the population increases, so does the number of the poor and the dead.
Those who cannot afford to cremate the dead might simply throw the bodies into
the river. Also, the bank of the holly river is a popular site for burying the
dead, which could make a flooding or rise of water level wash away the buried at
any time.
Will they see more such washed away bodies floating in the sacred river
in the future?
Enjoy reading and learning about this recent mystery in the river.
