Dear MEL School’s Topic Readers,
Critical thinking
hallmark of Common Core class
Whenever a new
education or teaching standards are introduced, there are a lot of criticism
from politicians, parents and teachers. That is probably because most people
view and judge things based on their passed experience of their own. But students,
who will be affected and influenced the most, simply adopt and try to do their
best to the tasks assigned by their teacher, provided that they are encouraged
and interested in the class.
The Common Core
State Standards are highly controversial new teaching standards that require
more critical thinking than facts memorizing. Students are expected to come up with
their thoughts and strategies and explain them. But how do teachers and
administrators of education measure the outcome of the learning performance of
the teaching?
Enjoy reading and
learning about this new approach to elementary and secondary education introduced
and implemented in one of the most advanced and progressive countries in higher
education.
