India's Congress holds mass rally to defend reforms.
Dear MEL School’s Topic Readers,
The country is expected to be the most populous within a few years, surpassing China, but still not open to foreign retailers yet mainly to “protect” their small retailers and other stake holders including farmers. Their state governments are more autonomous, which make it difficult for the central government to bring in reform to their much lagging infrastructure, investment, and governance. It is the most populous democratically governed country in the world but its political system doesn’t seem to bring about good changes or progress while other countries in Asia has been growing more rapidly and aggressively.
Enjoy reading and learning about India’s politics.
