Setting an ambitious goal tends to initiate huge, challenging work. In fact, a number of countries and companies have declared to eliminate all plastic containers, bags, and straws by 20XX. The question is how. For example, fizzy drinks like coke and beer need containers that withstand the forces exerted. Also, the containers need to be moldable to create shapes and sizes of specific drinks. And they need to be printable for labels and durable for transport and storage. In order to create a plastic container substitute with paper, there are a lot of technological and economical challenges. Indeed, plastic is more durable, affordable, and flexible than paper substitutes. But one by one, these hurdles have been cleared to realize a plastic-free world.
