Dear MEL School’s Topic Readers,
How far do you have to
run to burn off a burger?
Calorie intake versus
calorie burn-out. How much do you know or care? If you regularly burn more than
what you eat and digest, you never have to worry about your weight. But just
for you to know, if you have a BigMac and small fries, you get nearly 700
kilocalories, about equivalent calorie served in popular meals such as Japanese
lunch or dinner, or Chinse noodles with meat. The question is how much exercise
is needed to burn that energy. It varies by person, especially the weight and age,
but on average it takes an hour of cycling or fast running. That sounds quite a
task for a 10-minute munching, doesn’t it?
You may also be interested
to know how much energy is consumed in other day-to-day activities such as chewing,
reading or sitting.
Enjoy reading and
learning how efficient certain activities are to make someone fit.
