Dear MEL School’s
Topic Readers,
Threat from global
warming heightened in latest U.N. report
Another alert on
global warming, this time by the UN commissioned study. It urges governments to
take more immediate actions than ever before, saying the ecosystems and water
supply to sustain human lives is at great risk.
The report says
the risk is going to affect the poor the most especially in low-lying coastal
zones and islands by storms, flooding, and sea-level rise. It also says, again,
that the cause of droughts, colder weather and rising sea levels is greenhouse
gas emissions by humans.
Although the cause
of global warming seems undeniable and the situation is becoming irreversible
and immediate and decisive actions are inevitable, humans seem to be still
reluctant to give up things and life styles they are enjoying now. That might
be OK if today was the last day of the world.
Enjoy reading and
learning about the latest UN commissioned report.
