Screen time in bed linked to worse sleep, study finds
Experts recommend that establishing a routine before going to or in bed, such as keeping regular hours or reading a book, helps you enjoy better sleep. But what about playing games before bedtime or checking SNS in bed? A survey data of Norwegian students aged between 18 and 28 indicates that the longer screen time spent in bed led to a higher risk for insomnia and shorter sleep time. However, it found no evident correlation between the type of screen activity, like games, videos, or SNS, and sleep disruption. You may wonder if the night mode or a less bright screen of your device would lessen the impact of screen time, but what seems to matter to your sleep is not what you are looking at but the engagement with your phone itself.
