Dear MEL
Topic Readers,
Namibia's
fairy circles: Has one of nature's great mysteries been solved?
Science and
technology. They may soon take men to Mars. But they haven’t resolved all the
mysteries on their own planet yet.
One of such
unsolved mysteries is these patches on the surface of the Namib Desert, Namibia,
a southwestern country in Africa whose land is very dry. There have been two
distinct theories to explain how and why these grass-empty spots appear in this
particular region, spreading across nearly 1,800 kilometers.
One theory is
to blame underground termites eating vegetation, and the other attributes these
circles to naturally formed vegetation.
And what does
the new theory say?
Enjoy reading
and learning what could have created such mysterious patches on Earth.
