Dear MEL
Topic Readers,
Do 'longest
flight' records matter?
If you’re
traveling to the other side of the globe, you need to be ready for a very long
flight. Most of you probably prefer a non-stop flight rather than a one or multiple-stop
flight if the fares aren’t that different. Then, how long do you dare to sit in
a seat only with a 30 or so inch leg-room, being sandwiched by unknown passengers
and fed several hardly-palatable airline meals?
With business
reasons, new long routes are being added in the world flight map, such as Delhi
to San Francisco and Doha Qatar to Auckland, New Zealand, which go beyond 16
hours for one way, not roundtrip. Furthermore, as the range capability of new
aircraft improves, more long-haul flight routes are expected to appear.
Why? Are more
passengers becoming more tolerant of sitting long because of free Wi-Fi and onboard
entertainment?
Enjoy reading
and thinking if the Doha-Auckland flight ends up carrying more camels and sheep
than passengers.
