Dear MEL
Topic Readers,
Safety tip
from India's tourism minister: Don't wear skirts
What’s his
job? The person who is in charge of promoting tourism in India was backfired
when he commented that women who visit India shouldn't wear skirts for their
own safety. For what reasons?
As many of you
know, recently, sexual assaults against any women, foreigners or children, have
been reported and accused of extensively in India. One of the reasons seems to
be historical and traditional view and treatment of women. Another is the fact
that there are fewer police officers per citizen in India than most of the
countries. Indeed. You won’t see much police presence on the street in India where
traffic goes crazy.
Enjoy reading
and thinking what the minister wanted to tell or warn foreign visitors.
