Topic Reading-Vol.220-11/17/2012

Dear MEL School’s Topic Readers,
More women have driver's licenses than men in US.
Over the course of the last century since Ford Model-T hit the road in 1908, the gender gap of drivers in the U.S. has been narrowing and now is reversed; Female drivers seem to outnumber males.
As one middle-age female driver says she wants to be in her own car for as long as possible and she wants to be independent for as long as she can, cars serve not only as a transportation vehicle but also as a vehicle that allows you to travel at their own will, which has been boys dream until they become eligible to drive.
There seem to be variety of factors that affect the total number of drivers such as insurance costs, economy, life expectancies, social net work and smartphones,
Enjoy reading and learning what’s going on on the road in America.
