Topic Reading-Vol.2669-8/2/2019

Dear MEL Topic Readers,
The truth about saturated fat
First time in human history, more people die from obesity than from starvation. Also, more and more money is being spent on treating those who take too much unhealthy foods and drinks, such as junk food, sweets, and sugary drinks.
One of the often-blamed cause for heart disease is saturated fat. It is a type of dietary fat that is usually solid at room temperatures, such as butter, cheese, palm and coconut oils, sausages, red meat, cakes, and biscuits, most of which are very popular in the UK and US whose obesity ratio is among the highest in the world respectively. Most scientists, doctors, and nutritionists say that too much saturated fat raises bad cholesterol levels in the blood, which could clog the arteries and cause a heart attack or stroke. They recommend altering the calorie intake by saturated fat with healthier foods that are rich in carbohydrates like grains or unsaturated fat, such as nuts and oily fish. However, some scientists argue that obesity and diabetes can be lessened by taking more fat but less intake of carbohydrates and snacks.
Whichever the case might be, eat modestly seems to be the key to a healthier life.
Enjoy reading and learn what saturate fat is about and does to your health.
