Champagne sales sink because people don’t want to celebrate
Sparkling wine is a generic term for any wine with carbon dioxide bubbles whereas Champagne is a type of sparkling wine produced in the Champagne wine region of France under the rules of the appellation. It is a celebratory drink often consumed at social gatherings, weddings, and other ceremonial occasions or as an aperitif. Champagne is usually regarded as a symbol of celebration, prosperity, and success. Last year, Champagne shipments from France and sales in the home market both declined by 10% and 7% respectively. Indeed, there were concerns about rising inflation, political instability, and environmental disasters across the world, which might have held people back from toasting with the celebratory drink.
