Dear MEL
Topic Readers,
Food safety
myths
Pink pork
meat, raw beansprouts, and reheated rice. Are these safe to eat? What about
refrozen food or dropped food on the floor?
Hygiene and
food safety are important not just for those working in the food industry but
for anyone who eats food. Most of you presume the practices you’re accustomed
to are appropriate. But you might have been saved by luck. Food could be
contaminated much faster and more easily than you think. For example, cooked
rice should be consumed within the day because bacteria grow fast in the rice
and could multiply and produce a toxin. Such toxin remains in the rice even it
is reheated or microwaved. Sounds scary, doesn’t it?
Enjoy reading
and learning what could go wrong with the food you eat or serve.
