Dear MEL School’s
Topic Readers,
Venice to ban
wheeled suitcases
Going to Venice
next year? You’d better leave your usual suitcases with plastic or hard rubber
wheels, or you’ll risk yourself a 500 euro fine.
The residents of
the world popular tourists’ destination have become too tired and annoyed by
the rattling noises of such strollers day and night. They also claim that their
historic architectural infrastructures such as marble steps, stone pathways and
footbridges around the canals are being damaged. The new bill, if signed, is
going to require quieter alternative like air-filled tires to be carried on the
streets.
It seems that the
claims by the residents have become louder than the rumbling sound of the wheelers
by the visitors.
Enjoy reading and
learning about the latest move in this ancient town.
