Malala at U.N.: The Taliban failed to
silence us.
On October 9, 2012, masked Taliban gunmen
tried to silence her but badly failed. Nearly nine months later on her 16th
birthday, she was able to speak up to the world leaders at the UN headquarters
in New York. What she wanted wasn’t an opportunity for revenge against those
gunmen but education for every child in the world, including the children of
the extremists, especially the Taliban. She believes those extremists are
afraid of the power and influence of books and pens, and the voice of women.
Enjoy reading the article and hearing her
speech in front of children and leaders from the world.
