New aircraft carrier, 10,000 US troops: Is the Iran war about to
escalate?
Since 1958, the US has shown a strong presence in the Middle East and deployed
as many as 50,000 troops in about 20 locations in the region before the war
with Iran that began February 28 this year. In addition to the 7,000 troops already
added since then, the US is now deploying more military assets in the region,
including thousands of sailors and Marines, F-35 fighter jets, and another mighty
aircraft carrier. Has the US already made up its mind despite the ongoing peace
talks? Pounding heavily from the air using aircraft, drones, and missiles seems
to have only solidified Iran’s resistance against the US and Israel. Is the US preparing
to invade Iran on the ground only with thousands of paratroopers and Marines,
or just showing the determination to close a deal favorably and honorably?
Whichever the case might be, things are expected to become clear after November 3, the day
of the US elections. But it is not just the US preparing for the next move.
Iran says it is fully prepared for US attacks.
